Christchurch rock band. Orkid also feature on the 'Marvin: Brat 3' compilation.
Orkid was formed six years ago in the Nelson region, from
members of Lippid, Vasalisa and The Tin Pot Revolutionary Band.
This made its influences very broad to include rock, funk, reggae, pop and heavy metal. Orkid has remained true to its roots and they continue to draw on those influences, all members current and past, have contributed their best efforts to Orkid and in turn were able to share in an ever increasing amount of creativity and professionalism.
"We are commited to taking Orkid to bigger and more diverse audiences, we've worked hard and earned alot of respect in the South Island, particularly Christchurch over the last four years, now we are working at the National Level."
"Our debut album '3' was an entirely independent project, the recording process was completed in only two days and the entire 59min cd was recorded, mixed and printed for less than $5000. The growth that has happened within Orkid since then is due to the lessons we have learned."
