Mother Guru

Bio

Mother Guru is a high-energy rock outfit that simply love to play live and rock hard. They share a particular passion about their music and they have made a significant name for themselves around the country through constant touring and playing live gigs.

They have been together for over 6 years and are based in Nelson.

Over the past years, the band has :

- Played at the 2002 Big Day Out
- Toured as Dave Dobbyn's support band for the South Island leg of his, 'My Kinda People' Tour.
- Played at the 2002 Rippon Festival w/ Che Fu, Zed, The Black Seeds and Pitch Black.
- Played alongside acts such as: Stellar*, Tadpole, Rubicon, Goodshirt, Slim, Sommerset, Weta and Fur Patrol among other very cool, but maybe not so well-known bands.
- Have completed 3 self-funded, nationwide tours.
- Have toured extensively with the SmokeFree RockQuest as the guest band at both the Regional and National Finals.
- Had 2 songs, 'Superhero' and 'Naked Space' reach #1 on Student Radio.
- Were the very first headlining band to play at the Hard Rock Cafe in Queenstown.
- Were the Co-headliners for The Cusp 2003, alongside Betchadupa, Rhombus and Minuit.

The band have been playing consistently in Nelson and around the country, building their profile as an intense live band experience. At the same time saving funds to put towards the recording they’ve been anxious to create.
They share a ‘brotherly’ bond which is seen, and felt, when you're with them.

"If you could bottle the energy they exude on stage, you’d have yourself an alternate power source." - Jennifer Scott, NZ Musician Magazine

"The crowd went off like wild fleas." - The Listener

"Lets get to know them, together." - Squeeze TV
