Sheelahroc, meaning 'Women Are The Strength', was formed in Christchurch in May 1999. Originally consisting of 8 members of various ethnicities; Japanese, Maori, Samoan and Niuean, the initial performance reflected the full spectrum of Hip-Hop.

Since being formed, Sheelahroc have performed alongside Che Fu, DLT, King Kapisi, P-Money and the Dawn Raid Collective. They have also opened for Bone Thugs n Harmony.

Sheelahroc split in 2002, with their last performance being at the Jetset Lounge in Christchurch.

Karoline Tamati now performs as Ladi 6.
