Nathan Haines

Bio

With four solo albums to his name and an incredible list of collaborations and guest spots on hundreds of releases, saxophonist/vocalist Nathan Haines continues to explore the boundaries of soul, funk and jazz.

Released first in New Zealand in July 2005, latest album 'Life Time' features the 80 piece NZ Symphony Orchestra with wonderful string arrangements by Grammy Award winning pianist Alan Broadbent and originals by Nathan and guitarist brother Joel.

He has been based in the UK for over ten years, and has recorded 2 albums for UK dance label Chillifunk. Nathan teamed up with producer Phil Asher and a host of international musicians and the resulting 2001 album 'Sound Travels' was followed up by the excellent 2003 release 'Squire For Hire' on UK label Chillifunk.

This album featured US soul legend Marlena Shaw on the title track, Damon Albarn from Blur singing a Steeley Dan cover, and Philidelphia based producer/poet Rich Medina waxing lyrical over producer Phil Asher's beats. Other writers include Mark de Clive Lowe, Guida Da Palma, Chris Franck (Da Lata) and vocalist Lyric L.

Nathan has cemented his reputation with an amazing live show with a ten-peice band of long-term collaborators including Vanessa Freeman, Mike Patto (Reel People), Marcus Begg, Daniel Crosby, Lyric L, Simon Colam and many others.

Nathan also features on Jamiroquai's new album 'Dynamite', and played live with the band at Clapham Common in July 2005.

His trademark flute and sax work has graced albums, releases and remixes from restless soul, Masters at Work, Jon Cutler, Mark de Clive Lowe, Italian jazz pianist Marco Di Marco, Alex Attias, Bugz in the Attic, Jon Cutler, Reel People, Xpress 2, and many more.
