Skallander is the earthy name for the collaboration between Matthew Mitchell (ex-Wellington Jazz scene, now Hungarian media mogul) and Bevan Smith (of Aspen, Signer, Marineville fame). Mitchell’s feel for the surreal, surfaces here and there among the sandpapered vocals. Finely grained as shifting sands they play off against apple crisp clicks and beats. Smith continues to perfect his smooth 80’s style production, coming ever closer to a pomegranate rich ideal.
