Bio

The Alpha Plan was cooked up in a flat in Dunedin in 1995. Half a year later, it started with some recording at Ambush Studios in Auckland. 1999 was a quiet year for the band due to the international playboy lifestyle of their drummer.

The members of Alpha Plan have between them shared years of work with some of New Zealand's more interesting bands including Age of Dog, Tin Soldiers, Swarm, Too Many Daves, and Das Phaedrus. The group played in London throughout 1998 and 1999 at a number of venues including the Camden Falcon, Dublin Castle, and the Garage before returning home to complete their second album 'Stratford Workshop' which was released in 2001.

Pavement Magazine have described the band as "a dark and talented guitar unit" and Rip It Up urged readers to "plan on visiting their city soon to admire the sonic architecture." And UK 'zine Robots & Electric Brains described the band as recalling "…the tormented pop-distort altercations of the Psychedelic Furs, Joy Division of Wire, or the underproduced ravagings of a lesser Warser Gate."

Victor Billot
John Howell
