Oakley Grenell's debut Jungle Jazz CD release titled 'Jaded' has been in stores since April 2002 under the name OG. The EP was released on Oakley's own Central Records.
Highlights since the release have been:
- A nomination for the Most Promising New Act for the 2002 BNet New Zealand Music Awards.
- Releasing the video to 'Jaded' live to national television programs and getting airplay.
- Selling every copy of the EP available.
- Touring the South Island and Wellington with the live band and sometimes DJing.
- Performing a NZ Music month special Live-To-Air and web on Christchurch's RDU.
- Articles in every major New Zealand music magazine.
OG has been producing his Jungle Jazz style since 2000 and in this time he has released the single and video for '2 The Dayz', formed a 5 piece band to play the tracks live, recorded his first EP and made his second video, a live version of the title EP track 'Jaded'.
OG has performed all over New Zealand, playing support for well-known acts like The Nomad, Salmonella Dub and Mike Knock. He has played at Orientations, The Gathering, Soulstice, Destination, as well as numerous local dance parties and his own gigs.
The 6 track 'Jaded' EP, includes the singles and QuickTime videos for 'Jaded' and '2 the Dayz'. The CD also includes a 'Jaded Remix' by producer The Nomad.
Oakley Grenell is a Christchurch Jazz School Scholarship Graduate of Guitar. He is a member of the highly popular reggae band Bunyip and also recently formed the group the Otautahi Allstars. This group was formed, recorded, giged, and dispanded all in the space of 2 weeks. Check out their track 'Shot' on the 'Dub Combinations' CD from Kog out soon. Oakley is also a full time music teacher HOD at Aranui High School, Christchurch.
Oakley's debut album 'Uncharted' was released in 2003.
Oakley is also the brother of Shapeshifter's Redford.
