Knives At Noon consist of Tim McCartney (new member - vocals), Andy Ketels (Guitar), Oli Wilson (synths) and Tim Couch (drums). KaN have been busy this year, focusing much of their attention outside of Dunedin. In May, KaN completed a NZ tour (playing Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Palmerston North and Auckland) and have received nationwide NZ and Australian media coverage over the release of their online EP and ‘remix project’, which they facilitated via their myspace page.

Knives At Noon’s Synth player, Oli Wilson has just returned from Australia, where he showcased KaN’s ‘remix project’ at a two Creative Industries conferences there from the 24th – 27th of June. Oli was invited (and funded) to the high profile event by the organizers after a story covering KaN’s remix project was aired on TV3 nightline in May. While in Brisbane, Oli was able to meet with key industry and media personnel, and was consequently interviewed for the nationwide Australian TV show ‘Not Quite Art’ in which KaN features in their upcoming season. This trip coincides with the track ‘Get Outta My Head’, in which KaN collaborated with Brisbane producer Benny Electric wining a ‘Song Cast’ competition for independent artists for June 2008. A listener voted poll, the winning entry receives $1000 prize pack, and a feature article in the nationwide Australian ‘POP REPUBLIC MAGAZINE’. KaN Have just finished a second remix in collaboration called ‘Heat Up’ and are also working on a video for ‘Outta My Head’ that is being planned for both Australia and New Zealand releases.
Recent events include:
• Feature on the nationwide Australian ABC TV show ‘NOT QUITE ART’ season two: interviewed about their internatal remix/collaboration project.
• Knives At Noon’s Remix project, from Benny Electric’s perspective features in upcoming nationwide Australian ‘POP REPBUBLIC MAGAZINE’.
• Their home-video style music video has featured on the C4 shows ‘HOMEGROWN’ and ‘WATCH THIS SPACE’.
• They are featured in NZMUSICAN magazine June/July edition in their ‘FRESH TALENT’ segment
• Featured in a TV3 NIGHTLINE story (screened Friday 9th may).
• They feature in the forthcoming season of ALT TV’s ‘WELCOME TO THE GUN SHOW’
• Were Selected to perform for MTV in May, and were the only south island ‘band’ to make the top 30 (from 250 entires) in the MTV ‘KICKSTART’ competition.
• Were selected to play the high profile ‘RED BULL LIVE TO AIR, which was broadcasted across all NZ b-net stations on the 29th of May, and HD video posted on their website.
• They have been interviewed and featured on most b-net stations across NZ, as well as Kiwi FM
• They have had a number of amateur and professional musicians from Australia, UK and NZ sample their material, and a few have fully re-mixed their tracks - made possible through their use of a ‘CC’ licence
• (Consequently) KaN feature in a two full-page article in a forthcoming internationally distributed Asia-Pacific booklet about Creative Commons (CC) licences.
