Raashi Malik

Bio

Raashi Malik's soulful voice is probably mostly associated with Wellington super-dub band Rhombus. Recently she has been showcasing her own original music with a live band featuring Tim Beals (Bass) & Des Mellon (drums) & Rhian Sheehan on acoustic guitar. Raashi's style is a mixture of soul fusion & traditional Indian folk.

A New Zealander of Indian decent - she is an accomplished musician and songwriter who has been writing her own music for the last 10 years. Locally she is better known for her work with Wellington band Rhombus in which she has incorporated Indian music into the bands eclectic musical style. Raashi has spent much time in India, but recently spent 6 months there immersing herself in Indian music and culture, studying the art of traditional Indian vocal technique with luminary Indian musician Vikram Singh. She has a deep passion for integrating her Indian cultures music into her more Western-based musical style and has a strong desire to return to India and continue learning the art. Raashi has also written indo-music for International TV adverts.
