Bio

Andrew Mockler is a 23 year old Auckland based singer / songwriter originally from Middlesbrough, UK.

An exceptionally accomplished musician with an extensive musical education, Andrew is a multi instrumentalist who plays bass and piano in addition to his main forte of vocals and guitar. Tertiary qualifications include a degree in Jazz, Popular and Commercial music and study at the London College of Music.

Andrew has considerable performance and composition experience as well, having been gigging with different bands and as a solo performer since the age of 16.

A career highlight for Andrew’s live experience so far, was being talent spotted by internationally reknowned music legend Sting, to sing in his place at a Variety Club VIP dinner while in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, in May 2004.

He obviously made a good impression as this led to two further live performances with Sting, singing backing vocals at a concert in 2004 and again in 2006.

To date Andrew’s songs have received national airplay on Radio New Zealand, as well as airplay on BBC Radio in the UK and local radio in France. He has performed two live sessions on BBC Radio Cleveland (available to listen at www.andrewmockler.com along with other press clippings, including information and photos of his work with Sting).

Andrew is an adult contemporary artist with influences ranging from Sting’s jazz and pop flavoured material, through Savage Garden, Muse, Phil Collins, Prince, and most recently KT Tunstall.

Taking the next steps towards Andrew’s goal of establishing himself in the musical mainstream has seen his obvious talent and drive win him selection for artist development at Auckland’s Beaver Studios. Andrew has worked on potential lead single ‘Drowning In Neon’ with top New Zealand producers Simon Holloway, Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper and Jonathan Campbell.
