John Egenes is part of the strong legacy handed down by the songwriters of the American Southwest. From Santa Fe, New Mexico and now living in Dunedin, he has spent his years on the road and in the studio backing some of the best representatives of the craft.
He's an excellent guitar player, also a first class multi-instrumentalist (guitar, mandolin, bass, mandola, dobro, pedal steel, fiddle, lap steel, piano, accordion, harmonica, quattro, musical saw), he has performed and recorded with a range of artists that includes Eliza Gilkyson, Bill & Bonnie Hearne, Tish Hinojosa, Gary P. Nunn, Jono Manson, Tom Adler, Jaime Michaels, The Buckarettes, Stefano Barotti, and many others. An award-winning producer, Egenes seems to be at ease wearing a number of musical hats, in and out of the recording studio.
He has shared the stage with a wide variety of musicians such as Guy Clarke, Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, Townes van Zandt, Lynn Anderson, Pete Seeger, Jerry Jeff Walker, Bonnie Raitt, Greg Brown, Ian Tyson.... the list goes on and on.
