Bio

Thomas Coffey is a veteran of the New Zealand live scene. A Christchurch boy through and through, Thomas has a down to earth and thoughtful appeal to his music and his approach.

Raised on music, the outcome was more or less inevitable. Thomas started his musical training at the tender age of five and made his way through classical circles until his imagination was caught by songwriting at seventeen. From there a brief stint at the local jazz school cemented the relationships with the musicians that would join his band Fervid's line up over the next four years.

After jazz school the Mainstreet Café in central city Christchurch saw Thomas make the easy transition from songwriter to frontman and gave him the opportunity and pleasure of meeting, supporting and encouraging fresh talent whilst running the open-mic night.

After gigging around the South Island and Wellington testing his original material for a couple of years, Thomas joined forces with Luke's Kitchen and co-produced his first EP, 'Tell Your Friends'.

With the EP complete and Gorilla Pictures on board for a music video Thomas finally made the move away from the band scene into solo performances, the culmination of 2005 being the wonderful local reception of his fun and original video - co-produced with Gorilla Pictures - 'A Memory of You'.

With a solid, energetic then beautiful acoustic set and a real desire to please the punters, Thomas Coffey is definitely one to keep your eye on.
