Landmark - Pavement June/July 1999
a review on Pacific Underground submitted by gunn.

This outfit has a fine history of pumping out some great theatre from their Christchurch base, with plays like Fresh Off The Boat, Dawn Raids and Romeo and Tusi. As you’d guess from the name, they’re all of Polynesian descent. This disc is a collection of songs, raps and the odd skit courtesy of those crazy fellas, The Naked Samoans. It’s a collection featuring their various musical groupings, from the splendid rap styles of Beats N Pieces to the reggae-soul grooves of Freeworld, all excellently produced by Posenai Mavaega, musical director for Pacific Underground. Soul, R&B, Hip Hop and P.I flavours all come flowing through on Landmark in a silky smooth fashion. Well worth investigating. Get it from Pacific Underground, PO Box 3934, Christchurch 8001.
