Chris Jones IS The Human Dynamo. He has an undeniable energy and passion for writing and performing great music. If you're into pop music with passion and sincerity then you'll love Chris.
In July 1999, Wellington City Council commissioned Chris to pen the city's song for the new millennium. 'Wellington (The Best Time Of Your Life)' was released at a mayoral reception in October.
Since then Chris has been playing a host of high profile shows with his six-piece band and continues to build a reputation and a real live-wire on the New Zealand music scene.
Drawing on influences from Blink 182 to Billy Joel to Republica - Chris' music definitely has substance.
A few highlights to date:
International Supports
Opening for Boney M in 2000 and The Searchers in March 2001 at Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre.
Wellington Stadium Opening
Opening Wellington's WestpacTrust Stadium in January 2000. "It was a real honour to be chosen to be the first act to play in the Stadium, and the second time in as many weeks I'd had an audience of 30,000 plus!"
Wellington (The Best Time of Your Life)
In July 1999 Jones penned Wellington's official Millennium Song. The project was funded by Wellington City Council. Hundreds of Wellingtonians joined in the final chorus and sang their way into musical (and Civic) history. The song was released in October 1999 at a mayoral reception and received substantial press, radio and television support.
Independent debut album
Chris Jones released his debut album 'The Human Dynamo' in February 1999. NZ On Air's Brendan Smyth and Marmalade Studio's Rocky Douche had high praise for this first effort: "One of the best New Zealand debut albums I've heard in years."
NZ On Air Hit Disc
'A New Zealand Christmas', the single, was released in time for Christmas 1998. It has received nationwide airplay each December since, not to mention a healthy dose of live performances at some of New Zealand's biggest Christmas events. Its commercial radio success was recognised through inclusion on the NZ On Air A/C Hit Disc in December 1999.
On a more personal note, Chris' philosophy in life is "always hire a cleaner", his idols are the entire Liverpool football team from the 1979 season and his favourite movie of all time? Titanic.
