a review on Streetwise Scarlet submitted by BrendaF.
There aren’t many albums that I await with eager anticipation but this is one of them.
Streetwise Scarlet has had a lot of publicity over the last 12 months and one has to ask if they actually deserve it. So do they live up to all the hype? Without a doubt.
With strong vocals, tight guitar rhythms and head thumping beats it was hard to believe this is their debut album. Having already had success with Hey O and Lets Go, their third release In the City Where the Devil Sleeps is starting to charge up the charts and its great to see (and hear).
If I had to be pushed for a favourite track (I have so many) it would have to be Take Me Home with a great beat and strong guitar riffs. But don’t think this album is all rock, there are some great slower tracks that show the soul and depth of the song writing.
I have had the privilege of seeing Streetwise Scarlet perform live and despite power issues it’s refreshing to know that the band sound great live as they do on album. If you have the chance to see them live then I strongly recommend that you do.
This is a great rock/pop album that I guarantee will have you screaming lyrics at your steering wheel driving along. This is a must have album.
