Bio
Formed in the winter of 2003, Sixlip are one of the newest bands on the Christchurch scene, and also a member of that relatively select fraternity - South Island hardcore bands.
The band's first three months of existence were spent practicing, and in an unusual move, also recording. The band have self-recorded a five-song EP entitled 'Truth Be Told', which was released in 2004.
Describing their own sounds, Sixlip say their songs are "short and to the point, with intense off-beats and well-deserved breakdowns". The four-piece are looking to increase their live presence during 2004, working out from their Christchurch home base. Watch out for 'em.

Sixlip Break Up Posted: Tue Jan 17, 2006 9:44 am Christchurch's top hardcore band Sixlip have called it a day. The four-piece made a name for themselves with their aggressive musical styles and also for their generous assistance to other bands in the area and those passing through Christchurch. As for the details, here's what Greg posted up in the punkas.com forums: "Sixlip has officially broken up as of last week due to musical issues and differences in the direction of the band (not personal issues - we are all still friends). We most probably won't be playing a final show. Chucky, Rich, Jim and myself would really like to thank everyone for their support and/or abuse over the last couple of years. We still have a few self titled EP's for sale for $10, hook me up a PM if you want one, or email chucky@brokenhillrecords.com. Again huge thanks for an amazing couple of years." |
