Don’t Die Wishing are an Auckland-based 'modern rock' outfit who like to play songs that are strong sonically, melodically and lyrically.

Current activities for Don’t Die Wishing include planning for the recording of two radio-releasable singles and working with two other bands (Asteroid Andy and Thirtycyclehum) to put on a regular event called Threshold, which is aimed at increasing the exposure/profile of all three bands.

Further plans for this year include the possibility of touring with the Threshold bands.

The band as it now stands has existed for about a year. The current line-up includes Chris Lovie-Tyler (vocals), Gavin Murphy (guitar), Bill Sim (bass) and Gary Martin (drums). As Christians, their aim is to produce high-quality music that reflects the creativity of God and to write songs that communicate the gospel in a way that real people can understand. Not afraid to try new things, they have recently been working on incorporating electronic sounds and drum loops into what they do, adding a new dynamic to an already diverse sound.

Don’t Die Wishing have played over 25 gigs in the last year including First Night 2001, Parachute Festival, dates at The Temple, The Kings Arms and the Masonic Tavern and a live-to-air on Planet FM. They are constantly working on their performance, musicianship and songwriting skills and aim to develop a reputation as a 'must see' live act in Auckland.
