At Peace - The @Peace And The Plutonian Noise Symphony Tour Review 25/10/14

08 Nov 2014 // A review by jck2

Four lunatic space dorks and their anti authority band of banshees, one beat making rapscalion, and a tattooed terrorist aka hip hop group @peace and supporting act Louie Knuxx recently finished a nationwide tour to celebrate the deluxe double vinyl release of their highly-acclaimed debut album @Peace And The Plutonian Noise Symphony released March this year.

The nine-date escapade spanned the North and South Island and saw the group joined on the road by special guest Louie Knuxx, who recently released his own sophomore album PGT/GRR after an eight-year wait. The South Island leg of the tour also had young and infinitely talented guest Jay Knight join the line up.

The songs @Peace played explore themes of space, time, evolution and religion. The music is exciting and sophisticated, transcending the typical Boom Bap people might expect to hear from a Hip Hop group. Jazzy with elements of Funk, Soul and Downbeat is how I would describe the sound scape of the night, compliments of beatmakers and musicians Christoph El Truento, Hayden ‘Dandruff’ Dicky and Brandon Haru. The fast paced rapping of vocalists Tom Scott and Lui Tuiasau provides the icing on the cake. With vocals often mutated through the use of pitch bending and shift, adding layers of extra-terrestrial-like voices.

Their tour ended with a fantastic gig at Galatos which saw them completely sell out of their vinyl pressings. I think it's safe to say thats a strong sign of a successful tour.

Check out their latest music video Matters off of the album @Peace And The Plutonium Noise Symphony.
