Released on Deadboy Records and best described as a cross between Meshuggah and As I Lay Dying with hints of Machine Head thrown into the bubbling cauldron for good measure, Depths' EP Resurgence is sure to quench your desire for head banging mayhem.
The CD starts off with a nice atmospheric and spooky intro that soon gives way to Age Of Compromise. Spectacularly heavy guitars, intricate blast beats and a death growl of unequivocal hatred showcasing the intensity displayed throughout the EP. Not to be outdone, Of Nothing masterfully combines various polyrhythmic modes in a seamless and merciless sonic signature. The Illusion Of Sanity ups the anti with an unbreakable thread of anger at break neck speed. Mark Coates has really outdone himself with a mixing technique that does Resurgence serious justice.
Although they’re all exceptional, the intensifying And Memories with a Mortician like segue makes it the standout track. This is everything you could want from your death metal, with haunting phrasing and detuned darkness capturing the essence of the lyrics perfectly. A New Flesh Revealed explores the diversity of speed, death and doom with inflections and modulation changes that are out of this world. The diversity of Dreamers closes out an explosive release of musical brilliance that will blow your mind.
Resurgence is a monumental EP not to be missed.

Bringing a modern, aggressive approach to death metal, PNC based DEPTHS have been making their mark on the New Zealand heavy music scene. With their crushing sound and passionate, pulverizing live performance they are an unnerving force to be reckoned with.
After countless tours up and down the country, supporting numerous international acts including Psycroptic, We Came As Romans, Cruel Hand, Northlane, and Dream On Dreamer. they prove their position as one of New Zealand's hardest working metal acts.
Since releasing their debut 'Where the Dead Lie' in early 2010, the band has undergone line-up changes resulting in a refining of their style. And with the highly anticipated release of 'Resurgence', they promise to push the limits of heavy music.
