Dakota Scream - Dakota Scream Newsletter Interview

07 Nov 2010 // An interview by Shade

What can we expect to see from Dakota Scream band over the next year?

As many shows as humanly and physically possible in as many venues as exist, as well as the release of the EP.

Who are your favourite NZ musicians/bands, and why?

Shihad, because their first few albums have that testicles to the wall feel which is a good motto.

The Datsuns, because of their pure inspiring live energy and great sing along tunes, that will always be enjoyed!

What advice would you like to give to other aspiring musicians?

Always go testicles to the wall.

Who would you most like to support live?

In Flames, Metallica, Machinehead, Lady Gaga. (The last one is true, because I’m sure she hasn’t had a metal act opening for her yet, and her live show is phenomenal!

What is your favourite NZ venue?

The Royal Tavern down in Palmerston North, good sound, good venue layout, and great hospitality!

What rumour would you like to start about Dakota Scream?

That red pandas have entered our brains and are speaking to the world via our music.
That Vaughn is awesome!

How did you come up with the name Dakota Scream?

It’s based upon the idea of world classed teen actress Dakota Fanning having quite a shocking dream and the band name is thus her reaction (being that she is screaming).

About Dakota Scream

Dakota Scream is an Auckland based metal band known for their ferocious, high energy live shows and powerful songs. Formed in the spring of 2008 Dakota Scream has evolved over the past few years with the ambition of becoming a world class act to be enjoyed by everyone with open ears. The power of this band can be solely attributed to the drive, passion and direction of the four like-minded musicians within it, whose mission is to create a brand of explosive, exciting and meaningful metal that will stand the test of time. This is a band that sets no limitations for musical creation and that always plays for pure passion and the love of it.

Their music features a wicked mix of aggressive rhythm, captivating riffs and hard-hitting drum beats along with powerful vocal lines that you won't forget easily. It's the mix of professionalism and plain old fun that gives this band their real unique flavour and sees their gigs being tight yet unrestricted. With their sole aim being to have a damn good time while spreading the word on their sound, Dakota Scream is definitely a band not to be missed. Check out their recently released material or even better, catch them at their next show.
