Cage Demise - Cage Demise Newsletter Interview

08 Aug 2010 // An interview by Shade

What can we expect to see from Cage Demise over the next year?

Play more gigs covering more NZ soil, an album release plus even more heavier songs.

What advice would you like to give to other aspiring musicians?

Get out there, make some original stuff, play as many shows as you can, and promote heavy metal!

Who are your favourite NZ musicians/bands, and why?

Paul Martin - The Axeman has done more for NZ metal than any other man! A great guy and an ever better guitarist! Hails 8 Foot Sativa -  A band full of talented musos over the years. Gary is a great friend and Musician I (Jamie) look up too.

Wrath - 10 year veterans of metal from the Naki. Great guys to party with and always put on the best show!

What will Cage Demise’s next release be?

Our high impact 11 track album being mixed and mastered at present.

How do you come up with your lyrics?

Ryan: Through actual events and things that actually happen... I'm not singing about my feelings, that's bloody ridiculous!

Who would you most like to support live?

Parkway Drive (Ryan) , Lamb Of God (Matt), Lamb Of God or Slayer (Jamie), Macabre or Wardulak (Damo)

How do you describe Cage Demise’s music?

Brutal, Powerful, Loud and Heavy

What is your favourite NZ venue?

The Basement Bar - New Plymouth - Always a wicked show! Even took a 50 Person party bus there from Palmy!

What is the best part of being a musician?

The crowd getting a hit off your music and generally just having fun.

What is your most embarrassing on tour/gig moment?

Ryan:  I went for a piss and dribbled some piss over my pants just before we were about to get on stage

Jamie:  Amps failing on me and not being able to play my gat at all well

What inspired you to start Cage Demise?

We couldn't find a drummer to jam with and just started hanging out as mates creating a few rifts, then it hit overdrive.

How did you come up with the name Cage Demise?

Matt: Its spawned from our oldest song Rudi's Demise which has been around before the band had even formed.

What is the best gig you have ever performed at, and why?

Project Hope fundraiser in Paraparaumu, it went off! Plus free food and beer all night! Not to mention raising funds for a great cause!

How do you keep in contact with your fans?

MySpace, Facebook, Email etc and play a heap of shows!!!!!!

What rumour would you like to start about Cage Demise?

When we were recording our album in a secret Taihape location it is rumored to be believed that we set off the eruption of Mt Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland with our extreme brutality as it happened at exactly the same time!!! Now thats BRUTAL!

About Cage Demise

Cage Demise is a 4-piece metal band hailing from Palmerston North. Formed in late 2006, Cage Demise has prepared and written over 15 original tracks and shared the stage with the likes of 8 Foot Sativa, Sinate, Wrath, Subtract, Set on End, Tainted, Human, Pariah, Gunt, Cell, Slave Cadaver and Australia's Beyond Terror Beyond Grace plus many more.

Influenced by the likes of Pantera, Lamb of God, Parkway Drive, Unearth, Killswitch Engage, Dethklok, As I lay Dying, Sinate, Wrath and 8 Foot Sativa, Cage Demise brings a mixture of Metal and Hardcore to create an original Heavy Metal sound. Backed up by a brutal stage presence and over 100 shows under their belts, they know how to entertain a crowd.

The Wick EP was released in May 2008 which included 7 original tracks. 12 Months of shows around the North Island followed by some well deserved practice time has seen a new breed of Cage Demise unleashed in 2009. With the addition of good friend Damo on bass and Ryan taking over the front man duties, Cage Demise was set to unleash a new breed of Metal.
