The Bleeders Newsletter Interview

06 Nov 2006 // An interview by Shade
Thanks to Angelo for answering the following questions:

1) What was your greatest achievement during 2006?

Getting the album out was cool. But then winning 2 awards at the Tuis was the icing on the cake!

2) Do you have any new recordings or tours planned for 2007?

Yeah we are currently working on material for a second album already and we plan to record it in the first half of next year. Touring outside of NZ more often is a must for next year too.

3) What do you think could be done to make NZ music even better?

More funding for bands to get overseas, maybe development between NZ and Australia label offices at getting NZ music more recognition in oz.

4) What is your favourite place to be in NZ?

To live is Auckland. Sad to say it. But it is. To visit... I like Wanaka in winter!

5) Who do you admire the most in NZ music at the moment?

Shihad!

About Bleeders

2006 was a huge year for the Bleeders. Their debut album, the anthemic power house that is 'Sweet As Sin', reached 2 in the charts, garnered them Best Breakthough Artist and Best Rock Album at the 2006 New Zealand Music Awards and went on to sell Gold. The band toured like maniacs in NZ and headed across the Tasman no less than five times at the invitation of everyone from Avenged Sevenfold and AFI to Aussie acts Gyroscope and Behind Crimson Eyes.

The self-titled follow up to 'Sweet As Sin' rejects any notion of resting on laurels. Produced by Clint Murphy and the Bleeders at Auckland’s York Street Studios and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York, 'Bleeders' is a return to the brutal vitality that first brought them to people’s attention.

“This time we want to make your ears bleed” says frontman Angelo Munro, describing the album as a “fresh start”. In a sea of imitators and “watered down sh*t” the Bleeders believe it is time for an onslaught of true, raw aggresion to shake down the complacent masses and the post-emo cynicism consuming current musical trends.
